Great for Families
When traveling with kids, I always look for one stop shops. The constant getting kids in and out of the car in or getting out of car seats can be such a time suck, and really kill the fun day mood. I was so glad to see when we got to Galesburg that we could park at the end of Seminary Street (Free parking) and walk to all of the places we intended to go to. Below is a map of Seminary Street and parking spots, but I will also list here some of our favorite spots that we hit during our visit!

Discovery Depot Children’s Museum
The Children’s museum was the biggest draw for us on our trip. I loved that we could, have breakfast before the museum then walk to lunch afterwards. The museum itself is right across the street from the Railway Museum. My kids loved watching the trains and Amtrack go by while they played at the museums outdoor playground exhibit. The walkthrough train car is another fun outdoor exhibit. Inside there are two levels of fun. The upstairs currently features a Thomas the Train exhibit and a fun and unique climber. If museums are your thing here are some more museums nearby!

Places to Eat (kid friendly)
- Inn Keepers Coffee– Great for Breakfast or lunch. Has indoor and outdoor seating. The decor and vibe inside is VERY cool! We got coffee here and loved it!
- Landmark Cafe & Creperie – Open for breakfast lunch and dinner on the weekends. Has a beautiful outdoor seating area with beautiful flowers and hanging baskets. We had crepes here for breakfast and they were delicious!

- Carriage House Bakery – This bakery offers coffee, ice cream and baked treats. It was a perfect resting stop and sweet treat while we were shopping.
- Jimmy Pizza – Open for dinner with crowd pleaser options and a kids menu.
- Packinghouse- Located next to the Children’s Museum and a great option for lunch or dinner
- Sprinkle & Spoon– this is an allergy friendly frozen treat shop. They have gluten and dairy free options and some unique flavors! I got lavender blackberry and it was delicious!

Places to shop
You can find a little bit of everything on Seminary Street. Mother Goosebumps and Calico Cat has some great options for kids items and kids clothing. Malley Farms has some wonderful local, grown herbs, jelly, and specialty foods. The House of Living Water has a great selection of natural body products and you can also get refillable hair and body products. I love being able to shop local and homemade and it’s great to have so many stores close together. Here can find a full list of places to shop off and on Seminary St.

Make a day of it!
If you are visiting the Galesburg area, make sure to put Seminary Street on your itinerary along with the Discovery Deopt Children’s Museum. Our exact itinerary, which I can highly recommend was Inn Keepers for coffee, Landmark Cafe for Brunch, Discovery Depot for a few hours of play then Shopping and ice cream at Sprinkle and Spoon. It was a win for the whole family!
